Daisy Bailey
Started Playing:
Aged 10 when my dad sent me to Radcliffe Band with his friend Harold. There were about five kids of us in with all the rest of the band, three of us on horn. And we were bloody awful.
Previous Bands:
Radcliffe, Besses Boys, Moston and Beswick then back to Radcliffe who share my banding capacity with Besses.
Memorable Banding Moments:
Being the Ultimate second Baritone with Moston in their glory days.
Falling downstairs at Pontins just before we were about to go on stage. I was sober and it was incredibly painful - I still suffer flashbacks (kind of). Anyway, Sylvia made the executive decision to let me have the entire band's supply of pre-contest port and brandy (in a Panda Pop bottle) and I was ok to play, it only really started hurting as I sat in the hall afterwards with both ankles ballooning and realised I couldn't move my head.
Playing with Delph band for Whit Friday once and playing last on at Delph - wonderful.
Moston Band playing at the City of Manchester Stadium (and that other football ground in Manchester) for the derby matches.
Old Trafford Cricket Ground with Besses was a great day also.
Favourite Piece:
Pie Jesu. Honestly! Ok... Variations on a Ninth and I'd love to be able to play Carnaval Romain more often than the 1 in 10 times I actually get it right when practising.
